You hook it up to your TiVo or DVR box and install the program on your computer.
Then you can watch live or pre-recorded shows from anywhere.
SO if you travel a lot and have a few favorite series you doint want to miss, you can just watch from your laptop.
Even better I use it during my long breaks between classes.

And it works amazingly on my Mac.

Its a pretty inexpensive toy, around $200.
Its perfect for those who are rarely home and live from their computers.
